(Backup) (Backup) Day 1 Ministry!

Pictures and testimonies from some of today’s adventures!
“Today my group traveled to a small village right outside of Draganesti-Olt. There we assisted a missionary who also doubled as the village doctor by watching over kids in the village who were there for the children’s ministry. We told the Children about the story of Jonah and sang songs that we learned in America. Although we had a major language barrier, it was incredible to see these kids hearts for each other and for meeting new people, even if we were being pelted with snowballs. Overall, today was a great first ministry day.” -Ethan Jones

“Thus far, the trip has been a blast, and it is only day one. My ministry group minus Sidney, (including myself, Jake, Malory, Hannah) was able to assist the children’s ministry in Comani at the house church shepherded by Raul’s brother. We began by introducing ourselves, and we then taught them about the integrity and boldness of Paul, and how they can imitate that. We played lots of games and the kids really warmed up to us, as they tried to teach me how to count to thirty in Romanian. After that was over, we helped lead the youth outreach ministry at Hope Church, called Catalyst. We worshipped in Romanian and English and a few of us shared our testimonies. Then, we suited up for what would be the most intense soccer tournament of our lives. It was team USA (Bjorn, Audrey, Hannah, Caden, Jake, Anna, Malory, and I) facing off against several Romanian teams. The teams we faced were not in the habit of practicing together, and yet they still absolutely crushed us. We fought hard, but we never scored a single goal, quickly being eliminated time and time again. I throughly enjoy today, and an anxious to see what God has in store for us tomorrow.” -Carson Slater

“The first morning here and it’s already been so encouraging for us! Hannah C, Hannah V, and I spent the day going on house visits around the town of Draganesti-Olt. We walked from house to house hearing about people’s lives and their beliefs. The most encouraging moment for me personally was the opportunity to be able to pray for them and read the Bible to them. Seeing the success in just the first day I’m ecstatic to see what the Lord will be doing in the next five days!” -Brenden Goldman

“Today my team and I had the opportunity to be a part of a kids club, we went to a park and played games with kids and got a chance to love on the little ones. During the time with the kids we played soccer, told Bible stories, and sang songs. Later we went back to the church and I had the chance to sing Romanian worship songs and share my testimony. After the time at the church we went and played in an indoor soccer tournament, which was really fun and competitive, although we lost. Overall, it was a super encouraging day and I can’t wait for the rest of the trip!”

-Audrey Brown

“My group and I traveled to Equana, which is about an hour from Draganesti, to visit Tavi, his wife Lydia, and their baby Caleb who started two churches in their rural village and were hosting a youth ministry today. Tavi taught a lesson about Creation and we learned that the kids all received Operation: Christmas Child boxes which was super cool to see the project first-hand. Lydia and Tavi told us their story about how they put their complete faith in God to move them from Bucharest to Equana without a house, vehicle, or connections to anyone in the village. Their complete dedication to pursue the will of God was incredibly inspiring and refreshing, and I will remain to be in awe of their servant hearts.” - Annelise Alvarado
